Cinnamon, watching the traffic go by ...

This is my baby, Cinnamon.  He is such a cutie, isn't he??  He likes to sit in the chair by the front door and watch the traffic go by, and the birds in the tree.  He thinks that everything happens just for his entertainment.  LOL!

CAS-ual Friday Challenge CFC63

I've started looking for different challenges to get myself in a more creative mood and start making more cards.  I've gotten into a slump.  I want to make cards, but my 'mojo' just isn't where I'd like it to be ...  So, I went looking around the web for a few challenges to get me started.  This is what I found today ...

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge this week is a color challenge, rather than a sketch or a theme.  CAS stands for Clean and Simple.  Not all cluttered up or fancy.  Lots of white space.  Very few, if any, layers.  I have trouble making 'clean and simple' cards.  Sometimes I don't know when to quit when I get started on a card!  {{Mental note:  Paula, you need to quit before your card gets all cluttered up!}}  These CAS challenges are what I need!  I hope to do a lot more of these CAS challenges in the future.

Actually, this is my second card with this color scheme.  The first card I made had a small bit of color where it shouldn't have.  No one would have probably noticed it, but I knew it was there.  So ... out it goes.  I'll cut it down as a panel and use it on a colored base one of these days.  I don't waste anything if I can help it!  This one has a couple of flaws too, but I'm done for today, so this is it.  Like it or not.  LOL.  I saw a similar card quite a while back, before I bought this stamp set that I really loved.  This is my take on it.

This was a fun color challenge.
Paper: Stampin Up - Whisper White.
Stamp set used: PTI (Papertrey Ink) Gracious Vases.
Inks: Stampin Up - Cool Caribbean (retired In-Color 2007), Lucky Limeade (In-Color 2011-2013) and Night of Navy.

I put a sheet of Amuse Studio - Bermuda cardstock behind it so the white card wouldn't be so washed out.

So there ya go!
See you next time.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs to all, Paula

Triple Time Stamping - take 2

Here is another card that I've recently made using the Triple Time Stamping technique found here on a video from Dawn Olchefske,

Stamps used:
Hero Arts:  Large Solid Flower, Large Open Flower, Small Solid Flower, Small Open Flower.
Stampin Up: Mixed Bunch, Kind & Caring Thoughts - inside of card - (retired Hostess set).
Amuse Studio: Essential Sentiments.
Paper: Stampin Up Whisper White & Daffodil Delight.
Ink: Stampin Up - Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz (retired In-Color 2010-2012).
Accessories: Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Seam Binding ribbon (retired).

I also like to decorate the inside of my cards too.

Triple Time Stamping

Here is a card stamping technique that I am currently 'stuck' on.  I love it!  Sooo easy, and the finished card looks so great!  Here is the link for the video of Triple Time Stamping technique from Dawn Olchefske.

Stamp set: The Open Sea (Stampin Up), Contemporary Greetings (Amuse Studio).
Paper: Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla (Stampin Up).
Accessories: crochet thread, stampin dimensionals.

The top 2 layers were adhered together and put on stampin' dimensionals onto the background layer. Very fun technique.

Papertrey Ink - With Sympathy set

Just got this set a couple of weeks ago & I love it!  It's not just for Sympathy, really.  And I can see me using it quite a bit.  Love the clear stamps.  Sooo much easier to really see where your image is going.  I only have a handful of PTI stamp sets, but I can see my list is growing!

Stamp sets: Both sets are Papertrey Ink: With Sympathy and Inside Out: Birthday.
Paper: Stampin Up: Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla
Accessories: Herringbone embossing folder (Cuttlebug), Ticket Corner punch (Stampin Up), EK Success small butterfly punch, pearls.

Christmas Snowflake

I love snowflakes & snowmen.  This is your warning that you will see a LOT of those cards around Christmastime!  LOL

Stamp Set: Four the Holidays (Stampin Up, retired).
Paper: Stampin Up Marina Mist, Whisper White and Silver Glimmer paper.
Ink: Marina Mist (Stampin Up)
Accessories: Snowburst embossing folder (Stampin Up, retired), Martha Stewart Skyland Snowflake punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, and a silver brad.

Embossed just the top portion of the Whisper White card front. Used Stampin' Up Silver Glimmer Paper to punch out the Martha Stewart Skyland snowflake, then inserted the silver piece into the 1 3/4" circle punch to punch the outer circle. Punched a Marina Mist circle from same circle punch and attached them together with a silver brad. Snowflake piece is popped up on stampin' dimensionals. 'Four The Holidays' is one of my favorite stamp sets for Christmas greetings.

Hello Doily

I LOVE this card!  Looks vintage, like a doily my grandmother may have made.

Stamps: Hello Doily background stamp (Stampin Up), Watercolor Trio for the birthday sentiment.  Watercolor Trio is a (Stampin Up) stamp set that has been retired.
Paper: Stampin Up Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.
InkL Versamark, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip (Stampin Up).
Accessories: Chocolate Chip 1/4" grosgrain ribbon (retired), Basic Pearls (one of largest size pearl on the sheet).

Technique: embossing & sponging.  I stamped the doily in versamark and heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  Then, sponging Crumb Cake ink all over the doily in circular motion to get in all the little nooks & crannys.  Also sponged on the outer edge of the doily to make it appear to pop off the card.

Other cards I have made

I am posting other cards I have made just to show you some of my creativity.

Stamp set: Flower Fest (Stampin' Up, now retired), sentiment is from Wild Rose stamp set from Amuse Studio
Paper: Tempting Turquoise. Basic Black and Whisper White.
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz (retired In-Color from 2010-2012).

I love bright colors!

My very first Challenge!!

July 29, 2012

I am going to start making cards for several card/sketch/color challenges that I find on the web.  I need to get some creative juices flowing again!  Seems I go 'great guns' for a while, then all my mojo dries up.  Is it that way with you too?  Well, I have decided that to keep those juices flowing, I need to participate in some card challenges that I have found on the web.  So, here goes .....

I have been making cards for over 10 years - off & on.  More off than on, really.  I absolutely LOVE making cards, but as you know, we don't get enough time to do what we WANT to do most of the time.  I am going to set aside some card-making time each week just so I can make some cards and do what I love.  I have an online gallery at, which is a HUGE community for stampers all over the world.  LOVE SplitCoastStampers!!  I have made a lot of friends there from all over the world.  I am MrsOcean on that forum and here is a link to my gallery.  I don't know if I will keep posting to that gallery as much, now that I am beginning my blog.

So without further delay ....
My first challenge entry is (drumroll, please ... )

Less is More sketch #6 (week #78).

Here is the sketch that we have to (sort of) duplicate:

And here is my finished card for this challenge:

I used all Stampin' Up supplies:
Paper: Naturals White for base and leaf layer, Cajun Craze cardstock for accent layers.
Ink: Cajun Craze & More Mustard

I keep going to Less Is More challenge website to see if my link 'worked' being this is my first time.  And .....  by joe, I think I've got it!!  LOL

Well, my very first challenge is under my belt!  Yeah!  Look out world ... this is only the beginning!  LOL

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Wow.  I started this blog 2 years ago and then just left it.  Starting in August 2012, I am going to try to post at least once a week with a new card to show you as well.  I am going to start working on some challenges that I see on other blogs in the card making and/or papercrafting world.  Hopefully working on some challenges will make me want to post on my blog!!  ;)
